RESPONSIBLE PLAY POLICY
Brown Bird and Company Ltd
Version 1.0
Effective Date: 18th June 2026
1. Introduction
At Brown Bird Campervan Competitions, we believe our competitions should be an enjoyable, affordable and responsible form of entertainment.
Our competitions provide the opportunity to win exceptional prizes, including campervans, Land Rovers, cash prizes and outdoor adventure equipment, for a relatively small entry cost. We want all participants to enjoy taking part responsibly and within their means.
Whilst prize competitions and prize draws are not regulated gambling activities, we recognise that some individuals may wish to manage their participation and spending. We are committed to promoting responsible participation, supporting customers who may require assistance and operating in accordance with recognised industry best practice.
This Responsible Play Policy outlines the tools, support and guidance available to help you stay in control of your participation.
1.1 Commitment to Industry Best Practice
Brown Bird and Company Ltd is committed to operating its competitions in a fair, transparent and responsible manner.
We support the principles set out within the UK Government’s Voluntary Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators and continually review our policies, procedures and customer safeguards to ensure we promote responsible participation, transparency, consumer protection and fair operation of our competitions.
Whilst our competitions are legally operated as prize competitions and prize draws and are not regulated gambling activities, we recognise the importance of maintaining high standards of customer care and responsible business practice.
Our aim is to provide an enjoyable and exciting experience for all participants while ensuring appropriate measures are available to help customers remain in control of their participation and spending.
2. Our Approach
We encourage all participants to:
* Treat competitions as entertainment, not as a source of income.
* Only spend money they can comfortably afford.
* Set personal budgets and stick to them.
* Avoid increasing spending in an attempt to recover previous expenditure.
* Take regular breaks from entering competitions.
* Seek support if participation becomes difficult to control.
Participation should always remain enjoyable and never place financial, emotional or personal pressure on you or your family.
3. Spend Limits
We encourage all customers to manage their spending responsibly.
If you would like to place a voluntary spending limit on your account, please contact our support team and we will apply the requested restriction to your account.
You may request:
* A monthly spending limit.
* A temporary restriction on purchases.
* A complete pause on paid entries.
Any reduction in spending limits will take effect as soon as reasonably practicable.
Brown Bird and Company Ltd reserves the right to review customer spending patterns and may contact customers, apply restrictions, suspend purchasing privileges or request further information where we reasonably believe intervention may be appropriate.
4. Self-Exclusion and Account Suspension
If you feel you need a break from entering competitions, you may request that your account is suspended or self-excluded.
Available options include:
Temporary Account Suspension
* 1 Month
* 3 Months
* 6 Months
* 12 Months
Self-Exclusion
* Minimum period of 6 months
* Extended periods available upon request
* Permanent exclusion available
During a suspension or self-exclusion period:
* You will not be able to purchase competition entries.
* You will be removed from promotional marketing communications where reasonably practicable.
* Your account restrictions cannot be removed before the agreed period expires.
Please note that marketing systems may take a short period to update and some pre-scheduled communications may still be received shortly after the restriction is applied.
5. Safer Play Guidance
You may wish to consider taking a break from competitions if:
* You are spending more than you originally intended.
* You are spending money needed for essential living costs.
* You feel compelled to enter competitions frequently.
* You are attempting to recover money previously spent.
* Participation is causing stress, anxiety or financial concerns.
* Friends or family have expressed concerns about your participation.
* Participation is negatively impacting your work, relationships or wellbeing.
If any of these situations apply to you, we encourage you to use the tools available under this policy or seek independent support.
6. Understanding Competition-Related Harm
Although prize competitions are not gambling, some individuals may experience behaviours that become unhealthy or difficult to manage.
Potential warning signs include:
* Spending beyond affordable limits.
* Hiding participation from family or friends.
* Borrowing money to enter competitions.
* Feeling anxious when unable to enter.
* Spending increasing amounts of money to achieve the same excitement.
* Entering competitions as a way to cope with stress, loneliness or financial difficulties.
If you recognise any of these signs, we strongly encourage you to take a break and seek support.
